The shortest way to find out whether diving is for you. One session in a pool, breathing from a tank for the first time, with an instructor beside you the whole way. It is not a certification and it commits you to nothing. If it turns out you love it, nothing is wasted — the skills carry straight into the Open Water Diver course.

What to expect
A short, controlled introduction. Every limit below comes from SSI training standards.
- Minimum age
- 8 years old. For anyone under 18 a parent or guardian signs the forms.
- Where you go
- A pool, and no deeper than 5 metres. Try Scuba never takes place in open water.
- Group size
- SSI allows a maximum of eight students per instructor for this programme, and assistants may not be used to raise that limit.
- Do you get a certification
- No. Try Scuba is an experience programme, not an entry-level certification. The certification course is Open Water Diver.
- Health
- The same SSI diver medical questionnaire as any other programme. If an answer flags something, you need a doctor's approval first.
- Swimming
- You need to be comfortable in water. The full water fitness evaluation belongs to the certification course, not to this session.
- Which pool
- A pool in London, or the heated indoor training pool at Stoney Cove. The venue is arranged for each course.
- What is provided
- Everything you need for the session. You do not need any equipment of your own.
